Fall Foliage in Burlington, VT

November 16, 2021November 16, 2021 Kate Gunderson

Because I start test pilot school on my 30th birthday, I wanted to take a fun trip now, while I still have both spending money and vacation time, to celebrate this milestone. Although I was born and raised in North Dakota, I’ve been living in Houston, TX long enough now that I get serious fall… Continue reading Fall Foliage in Burlington, VT

We’re coming back! 🥳 I’m so excited that I’ll be heading back to AIAA AVIATION Forum to help cover the event again this year! Get ready for a fun-filled week in sunny San Diego ☀️ as I interview industry leaders from the world’s top aerospace companies working to create a more sustainable future. ♻️

Moved out of my little apartment in my little mountain town yesterday. 🥲 I’m just moving down the road about 40 minutes but I’ll miss running here so much. One of these days I’ll settle down somewhere for more than a year but until then I’ll just keep chasing what fills my wine glass, ahem, cup. 😆 Hope you all are enjoying your long weekend! 🩷
Today was awesome! Flew cross country from KMHV-KSCK to visit Aero Turbine, a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) shop for J-85 engines which are the engines for the T-38 among other aircraft. It was pretty full circle, as my first internship was with GE Aviation who makes the engines and I went on to work with them a bit at NASA as well. We got to see their process (the last photo shows stages 4-9 of a compressor) and even hang out as close as you can get to the test stand during an engine run on full afterburner…something I’ve done before (see photo 5 for baby Kate in NASA’s test cell back in 2016) but it never, ever gets old! Talk about power! 🔥

One year ago, flying the Airbus A320 simulator in Vegas as part of the Civil Certification course at TPS. Our time slot happened to be in the middle of the night so of course once we were finished with all the work sometime around 3am, we had to have a little fun. Sound on for the video…who let the FTEs fly?! 🫣🤣
